it’s hard to believe that i get to teach this dream class of mine, a class that keeps feeding me in ways that i find impossible but not really. it’s actually not surprising to me that what i’m putting in i’m getting back and am seeing people’s lives change. this is not an understatement and i thank every person that’s taken this class because they took a chance on my whacky ass. i feel so grateful that i get to interface with other CSA survivors, resilient people, witches, writers who are also thinking about the Anthropocene and are invested in ending white supremacy. Vulnerability is so closely tied to accountability and that work is such a portal for self-healing… healing that, then, can be used as an instrument towards others and helping their healing journey as well. it’s an ecosystem that feeds itself. personally, it also helps me align with spirit and Earth as i teach it, so i have a lot of gratitude that i get to do this, thank you.
but, yeah, from what i hear this class is changing people’s lives!!! which is why i want to keep teaching it because it’s changing my life too… and some of you cuties have been reaching out to me to ask when i’m teaching it next and guess what… today i’m announcing my next class for the fall, starting in October!
PSA: this class is not for everyone. it’s for those of you who are curious and who want to see and explore deeper how the psyche is tied to writing. i believe to be a true and honest writer you have to tap into that place. so it’s for people who want to listen to themselves and learn what’s deep in there so they can spill it out onto the page… but it’s also for those of you who want to see beyond the fog and also learn how to begin practicing the dedication of nurturing your own art practice… while also healing.
if you didn’t read my last newsletter, please do. i’m in a state of extreme transition and i think it says a lot that i’m announcing this next class now… because i know it will ground me. if all of this sounds appealing, keep scrolling.
Writing with vulnerability in mind, Part 3.
September 28th to November 2nd, Tuesday (TBD, if you are an international person applying can you let me know? I might see if we can set a reasonable timezone!)
With a focus on emotions, each session will revolve around a specific work chosen by me and then unpacked through the class. Though I will be giving writing assignments each session, the goal of each class is to nurture your own authentic voice—and less about finishing a piece of work. I want to facilitate an environment where we can have in-depth conversations on how to connect deeply with ourselves—so it becomes easier to locate and then eventually release exactly what wants to be said.
A few things:
Each person will also get a 30-minute zoom call with me where we can talk about writing or any question you might have for me.
In order to ensure everyone feels nurtured, spots are limited. I will be giving out one scholarship to a Black or Indigenous or POC as well as one to a CSA survivor.
There will be community guidelines we all agree to in the beginning, I believe safe spaces are nurtured—not inherent—and it’s my imperative to ensure a safe space considering some deep things can be ruptured.
Coming to class means showing up for everyone as well as yourself, and a true investment in community care, which prioritizes compassion and kindness at all times—as well as transparency to self and the class.
If you want to apply, please email me below with why you want to attend this class. This is important. Tell me about yourself and why you want to take this class.
