Are you open to sharing what tarot card deck you use / who you got an akash reading from? I really want to put my money towards bipoc tarot designers and akash readers if you know any. x

Fariha, I truly love and appreciate you and your writing! Today's class is already changing my life. Wow, that figure for Like A Bird is infuriating. I don't have to tell you how much more that book deserved but goddamn.

I am excited to hear about you moving into filmmaking, I feel like I am witnessing the upward trajectory of an incredible artist - even within these struggles just know you are so inspiring to me!

I am honestly shocked at the price offered for Like A Bird. It pains me to think a book with that much soul, blood, sweat and tears (not to mention the kick-start on it aged 12!!!) wasn't picked up for the price it's worth. There's such a disparity between BIPOC writers and white writers, and BIPOC are never given the worth they deserve. Sincerely hope things are on the up financially and spiritually onwards, Fariha - you bloody well deserve it! I'm happy to pay a couple of dollars extra per subscription month too, you work warrants it, so feel free to raise the amount please! Sending light and love X

wow the way i was nodding my head at every paragraph! i know my dream + my calling is too make films but i'm sooo hesitant to really take the ~hollywood plunge~ i feel conflict on multiple levels though, because holding a film studies degree, i also have seen how "indie" cinema is placed exclusively to academia. most of the incredible films by directors/writers of color are not even available to watch online anywhere! so what's better? submitting to hollywood and leveraging their budgets, their distribution plans, their licensing agreements. or staying truly independent but then positioning my movies to only be screened in elitist classroom environments? sounds like a lose/lose to me.... i just chalk it up to "i'll have my whole life to figure this dynamic out" hustling in my 20s and 30s isn't going to lock me in to a path for the next 40+ years (inshallah) of creating. but maybe that's my air sign talking.
